Why badminton is a great sport for kids
FYBBA coaches · 26 October 2026 · 4 min read
Badminton is one of the most played sports in Malaysia, and it suits children well: it's indoors, the equipment is light, and they can rally with a friend after a few lessons.
It keeps them moving
A training session is full of short sprints, lunges and jumps. It's an active hour away from screens, and most children don't notice how much they're running because they're chasing the shuttle.
Hand-eye coordination and balance
Hitting a moving shuttle means judging speed and direction, then moving to the right place in time. These are skills children use in many other sports too.
Focus and patience
Learning a new stroke takes practice. Children learn to listen, try again after a miss, and see their own progress from week to week.
Friends and confidence
Group training means meeting children from other schools. Playing doubles teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship, win or lose.
See it for yourself
The best way to know if badminton suits your child is to let them try. Book a free tour and watch a session with them.
